Square Enix has broken its silence on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but those hoping to hear a release date are out of luck at this point.

Over on Twitter, producer Yoshinori Kitase responded to a question asking, “How is development progressing on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth?” He answered, “Development is progressing smoothly and according to plan. We are currently working on nailing down a release date for the game.”

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was announced last year and appears to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive. At the time, Square Enix didn’t provide an exact release date, but it mentioned Winter 2023 Come from Sports betting site VPbet. It’s up in the air whether that release window refers to the end of 2023 or the beginning of 2024, or if that release window is even still the target.
